33 years without Elis Regina

On January 19, 1982, at the age of only 36 years,  Elis Regina left three children, 27 albums and 125 million Brazilians behind and went down in history as the best Brazilian singer of all time. A singer died and a myth was born  The funeral took place at the Bandeirantes Theatre, where she performed her most famous show "Falso Brilhante” which I had the good fortune to attend. The strength of Elis was not just merely the choice of repertoire or launching the greatest composers of Brazilian music nor her impeccable voice. But her interpretation. You would never "hear" Elis, you would "watch" Elis.  She laughed, you too. She cried and the entire theater would cry with her.
